Visual Connections names Dr. Maurice Thomas as President, Shanika (McBounds) Palm as VP of Operations

Visual Connections is excited to announce Dr. Maurice Thomas, as our new President!

Maurice champions himself as a result-oriented leader, teacher, and mentor with industry certifications in program/project management, change/processes, technology, and operations.

Throughout an impressive 30+ year career, Maurice’s accomplishments include successfully managing $300m project portfolios in the Government Contracting space. Additionally, Dr. Thomas was awarded the distinction of Project Manager of the year at Oracle. Maurice has enjoyed limited tenures at nationally recognized organizations, including Oracle, CSC, and the US Postal Service. Dr. Thomas’ passion for sharing knowledge and education is exemplified through his service as an adjunct professor at American Public University (APUS) and The University of Maryland (UMGC).

Dr. Thomas has accomplished great things in VC’s Project Management Office (PMO) in the past five years. Maurice successfully led the VC team to acquire the industry standard CMMI certification. His leadership and dedication to the success of team VC are exemplified through his mentorship of multiple VC team members to obtain designated professional certificates.

Visual Connections Owner Frederick Deese Deese had this to say about Maurice: “I am honored to work with such a dedicated person. I consider Maurice to be one of the most valuable resources I have around me, and I sincerely appreciate his continued dedication and support of the success of Visual Connections. Thanks for all you have done over the years, and I am excited to see the success to come as you execute the role of President.” See the post here.

Visual Connections is also pleased to announce the promotion of Shanika (McBounds) Palm Palm as our new Vice President of Operations!

Shanika joined the VC family in 2017 and has been an invaluable member of our team.

Prior to joining VC, Shanika enjoyed a 15-year tenure at the largest Healthcare plan administrator in the state of Alabama. She led IT teams in the areas of data collection, analytics, systems development and reporting in support of federal and commercial client initiatives. Shanika was instrumental in transitioning the company’s management teams to a data-driven decisioning model that championed the use of visual analytics and automated work distribution using a combination of analytical and business process management applications.

Shanika’s hands-on approach to teaming with senior leadership to improve VC’s existing technology footprint and align the goals of the technology team with business objectives, has demonstrated her strategic innovative skills over the course of the last four years. Shanika has been a catalyst in the creation and the launching of VC’s Product Development Division and has shown her commitment as a technologist and as a manager on project teams, including the MPIC contract.

In her new role, she will plan, direct, coordinate, and oversee operations activities in the organization. Additionally, she will continue to advise the CEO and President on business and tech strategy, stakeholder relations and key partnerships.

Frederick Deese, Owner of Visual Connections, said: “I am so pleased to have Shanika fill in the new position as VP of Operations. I have watched her grow year over year and have the utmost confidence she will perform the job very well. Please join me in congratulating Shanika as she leads VC’s operations and takes us to the next level.” See the post here.
