VA adds new Deputy Under Secretary for Health Policy and Services

VA has announced that beginning January 20, 2019, Lucille B. Beck, PhD, will serve as Deputy Under Secretary for Health for Policy and Services (DUSHPS) in VA Central Office. In this position, Dr. Beck will provide leadership and oversight on health care policy and clinical programs, strategic objectives, DoD/VA interagency efforts and requirements for legislatively mandated health care delivery programs.

Dr. Beck has served in numerous key leadership roles across VHA. Most recently, since April 17, 2017, she served as Acting Deputy Under Secretary for Health for Policy and Services providing leadership, stability and strategic direction. In 2002, she was named as Chief Consultant for Rehabilitation Services and served in this role until her designation as Deputy Chief Patient Care Services Officer for Rehabilitation and Prosthetic Services in March 2014. Dr. Beck additionally served as Acting Assistant Deputy Under Secretary for Health for Patient Care Services from October 2016 through February 2017.
