Description
IHS currently has a need to improve home delivery prescription service by automating the prescription shipment labeling process, reducing handling steps of controlled substances, and adding accountability to home delivery prescription services.
- An electronic postage software solution that must interface to the ScriptPro Central Robotic Prescription system and create shipping labels with a single scan process.
- All encryption must be Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) Publication 140-2 compliant.
- The software solution must print United States Postal Service (USPS) labels in accordance with all USPS regulations, and ensure mail is properly labeled in accordance with USPS Publication 52, Hazardous, Restricted and Perishable Mail (Pub 52) section 435.
- Must be a commercial off the shelf product.
- Each pharmacy must receive remote training as part of implementation for all of its users.
- Must have web-based reports with IHS user and delivery metrics.
- Must have customer support by phone available Monday through Friday during business hours.
- Must have a 24-hour, 7 days per week IT security emergency contact available by phone to provide support in the event of an IT security emergency.
Scope: The scope of this project includes the work required for training, implementation, and maintenance of the interface.
Out of scope: The possibility of IHS ScriptPro interface (APSS) interfacing to Resource and Patient Management System (RPMS) was reviewed in detail, however it is considered out of scope of this project. Should there be a change in priorities resulting in the ability for RPMS to receive data in a two-way interface or ability to integrate from VistA, the terms of this project will be reconsidered and IHS will review the ability to return prescription delivery and tracking information into RPMS. At this time, only ScriptPro Central Robotic Prescription systems are able to interface to any IHS mail system. There will be ongoing technology reviews that may identify new capabilities to interface Parata Rx sites to an IHS Mail System in the future.
