Summary
This position is located within the VHA Office of Health Informatics (OHI), Clinical Informatics and Data Management Office (CIDMO) serving as the Supervisory Health Systems Specialist for clinical applications within Health Solutions Management. The incumbent provides executive level leadership, program management, and directs the technical, business, modernization, and cultural strategy for development of nationally-utilized clinical applications for health informatics environments.
Duties
- Manages the technical, business, cultural, and architectural strategy for migrating from the current to the future health informatics environment, as well as supervising staff responsible for the business-side support of existing clinical applications currently utilized nationally in the field.
- Obtains the resources necessary to achieve the desired objectives, the effective use of government resources, and deals with key officials both within and outside the organization to gain understanding and support for enterprise clinical applications.
- Directs and manages activities and teams to define overall project requirements, plan and coordinate design, development, and implementation, resolve a wide range of management and technical issues, and review and refine final products prior to submission.
- Develops, standardizes, and evaluates technical, business, and cultural strategies and methods for migrating CIDMO-approved national clinical applications from the current to the future health informatics environment.
- Develop and document requirements, capabilities, and constraints for design procedures and processes.
- Coordinates with systems architects and developers, as needed, to provide oversight in the development of design solutions.
- Serves as a principal advocate within the agency for the application of improvement concepts and practices, and consults with senior healthcare and IT managers throughout the agency in the implementation of process improvement practices as it relates to CIDMO’s national clinical application efforts…
