Industry digital transformation lead Larry Bafundo departs for Government role

G2X TAKE: Larry Bafundo, armed with perspective gained supporting Federal, state, and local Governments in improving how they use technology – from designing new digital experiences, to helping organizations adopt more iterative and human-centered ways of working at scale – has taken on a new challenge with the Department of Labor as Deputy Director for Technology.

In this role Larry will lead an effort to modernize the nation’s unemployment insurance systems through the development of open source and modular/reusable solutions that states can adopt. This is a part of a broader effort on the part of the White House and others to strengthen the nation’s unemployment insurance systems following the breakdowns over the course of the pandemic. More specifically, this work aims to reduce fraud, improve the customer experience, and improve access/equity to critical services across all people and demographics.

Larry was identified among the 2020 G2X Change Agents, a group of Federal IT and Consulting leaders from industry and Government who are working every day to take calculated risks and positively disrupt the Federal market, while having a measurable impact on the culture and the critical missions of the organizations they serve.

He was also identified just recently as being among the FedHealthIT100, an award that honors those individuals recognized for driving change and advancement in the Federal Health Information Technology and Consulting Market.

Prior roles include:

  • Vice President of Digital Services – Ad Hoc
  • Director of Product Management – Ad Hoc
  • Product Manager – 18F
