VA issues solicitation for completion of Real Time Location System VISN 1

Veterans Integrated Services Network (VISN) 1 is responsible for providing health care to Veterans in the New England area.  The 8 Health Care Systems within VISN 1 are comprised of 11 different medical campuses that work together to provide efficient, accessible health care to Veterans in their areas.

Real Time Location System (RTLS) is an umbrella term that includes multiple technologies for locating and tracking items.  It includes Wi-Fi based location finding, active and passive Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), and many other location technologies.

VISN 1 initiated and executed a Task Order under the National RTLS Contract which originally included all eleven medical campuses.  However, during the implementation, RTLS was descoped at White River Junction, West Roxbury, and Brockton due to a competing Office of Information Technology (OIT) Access Point replacement project, which impacted RTLS installation.  The RTLS Solution was approximately 50 percent completed at these three sites prior to descoping.

VA seeks to complete the implementation, testing, and training of the VISN 1 RTLS solution that began but was not completed at the three remaining VAMC’s; White River Junction VA Medical Center (VAMC), Boston Health Care System (HCS) – West Roxbury, MA and Boston HCS – Brockton, MA.  The Contractor shall continue implementing the VISN 1 procured solution which was designed, agreed upon under the National RTLS Program utilizing the National RTLS Contract.
