The Chief Health Informatics Officer (CHIO) of the Federal Electronic Health Record Modernization (FEHRM) Program Office is a fulltime position that reports administratively to the Executive Director for Clinical Informatics & Data Management Office (CIDMO) of the Office of Health Informatics (OHI). The FEHRM Director is responsible for the oversight of the incumbent’s daily work.
Duties
- Provides clinical informatics governance, leadership, and management that are characterized by substantial and continuous responsibility.
- Delivers executive management and strategic direction for health informatics, including serving as the primary clinical interface with executive management and stakeholders at DoD, CG, and VA
- Provides leadership in the design and delivery of information to improve clinical care, individual and public health, and biomedical research. Uses an analytical clinical informatics framework to apply design principles for evaluation of information systems created to facilitate delivery of care.
- Provides thought leadership and strategy for supporting FEHRM governance design and execution at the enterprise and facility level.
- Works with VA, DoD, CG and standards bodies to promote seamless care among VHA, DoD, CG, and community providers.
- Leverages technical and health data to improve clinical adoption.
- Works as a clinical champion for FEHRM to maximize the impact of health information technology (IT) services to improve patient outcomes with the EHR.
