Duties

The Associate Director serves as a full-fledged member of the Executive Leadership Team consisting of the Medical Center Director, Associate Director, Chief of Staff, and Associate Director for Patient Care Services. This position participates fully in top management discussions, decisions, policy making, planning, and goal setting, and shares equally in the responsibilities for outcomes of top management actions. The Associate Director is directly responsible for leadership, direction, and control of the following administrative and allied health services: Facilities Management Service, Health Administration Service (HAS), Fiscal Service, Prosthetics and Sensory Aids Service, Public Safety Service, Supply Chain Management Service, Privacy Program, the VERA program, as well as a limited scope of the Human Resources Management Service, Veterans Canteen Service and Office Information and Technology…

BUDGET AND FISCAL MANAGEMENT (30 percent)

  • Develops, administers, and controls the medical Center’s and CBOCs multi-million dollar operational budget
  • Develops, monitors, executes, and adjusts spending plans to effectively accomplish the mission of the Medical Center within monetary constraints imposed by VA Headquarters
  • Provides leadership and guidance in determining the resource needs and adjusting resource allocations
  • As Chair of the Resources Board, ensures that all position management, space, and equipment purchase requests are considered and reviewed in accordance with Medical Center guidelines and that justifications presented along with the requests provide sufficient information to allow for appropriate consideration…
