Jorge A. Ferrer, a distinguished healthcare informatics professional, has embarked on a new venture as the Clinical Informaticist of the Veterans’ Health Administration (VHA) Office of Health Informatics (OHI) Clinical Informatics and Data Management Office (CIDMO) Applied Informatics at the Department of Veterans Affairs. With over two decades of experience in the US Federal government, Jorge specializes in health informatics policy, standards, perioperative care informatics, innovations, interoperability, and blockchain in healthcare.
Jorge holds a Texas Medical Board license as a surgical assistant, actively practicing in the field. He leads informatics initiatives for blockchain-enabled provider directory data accuracy and system of record alignment interoperability innovation within the Veterans Affairs domain.
Jorge plays key roles, serving on the Editorial Board for Blockchain in Healthcare Today journal and as Government Chair of the American Council for Technology-Industry Advisory Council (ACT-IAC) Blockchain Working Group. He is also an affiliate member of the American College of Surgeons, a member of the American Medical Informatics Association, and the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society.
