The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is committed to continuously improving the quality of healthcare services provided to our nation’s veterans. As part of this commitment, VA’s National TeleCritical Care Program strives to enhance access to specialized critical care expertise for veterans. The program utilizes advanced telehealth technologies to connect patients and bedside clinical staff with remote healthcare providers, enabling real-time critical care consultations, monitoring, and support.

Objectives – The primary objectives of this requirement are as follows.

  • Leverage the VA’s existing repository of critical care data to improve disease categorization, prognostication, and critical care management.
  • Analyze, prepare, and develop a data engineering framework of available TeleCritical Care data for analysis and verification.
  • Identify additional biomarker data sets, which would materially improve the value of the resulting insights and algorithms.
  • Generate proof of concept and utility of machine learning analysis of the TeleCritical Care database for future analyses and internal and external funding.

Scope of work – The Contractor shall perform a retrospective analysis, including a feature engineering framework of the VA National TeleCritical Care Program using its existing repository of critical care data. This SOW aims to determine the program’s impacts on the objectives above while preparing a feature engineering framework for causal analyses.
