The Deputy Chief of Staff’s responsibilities include Clinical Program Oversight including but not limited to Whole Health Initiatives, EHRM Implementation, and Quality Improvement initiatives. The incumbent will work with the clinical service chiefs and performance measure champions to improve processes to meet the performance measure goals and improve utilization management. Reviews requests for contracts and helps determine the best way to obtain the required resources. The Deputy supervises a variety of staff, who are aligned under the Chief of Staff Office, and serves on a broad spectrum of medical center committees, task forces, etc.
The Deputy Chief of Staff’s duties include, but are not limited to:
- Provide support for and development of an integrated clinical care model with VISN-10 market facilities.
- Cover, on an interim basis, in the Chief of Staff role at partner VISN-10 facilities, if such is needed and requested.
- Oversee leadership, policy planning, budget, operations and performance of a block of departments as outlined in the functional Chief of Staff organizational chart.
- Ensure medical staff compliance with regulations, medical staff bylaws, facility policies, Joint Commission standards, performance metrics, and other appropriate regulations.
- Act as a full assistant to the Chief of Staff in the efficient management of clinical and medical services to eligible patients and the active maintenance of a medical credentialing and privileging and/or scope of practice system for licensed independent practitioners, advanced practice providers, as well as credentialing of certain allied health practitioners per VA policy.
