The Veterans Health Administration (VHA) Procurement and Logistics Office (P&LO) supports the VHA in purchasing high quality, cost-effective health care products and services. The Executive Director Logistics reports to the Executive Director, Acquisition Technology and Logistics (AT&L).
Responsibilities:
- Functions as the subject matter expert and advises and assists the Executive Director, AT&L and other key senior staff on all healthcare logistics and medical supply chain issues.
- Leads the development, implementation, oversight, and improvement for all VHA healthcare logistics and medical supply chain activities.
- Manages VHA logistics information technology and data and ensures full system implementation within designated time-frames and approved budget resource levels, including completion of system and interface changes.
- Responsible for the planning, implementation, operation, sustainment, and improvement of the VHA Regional Readiness Centers, which provide supplies and equipment to ensure VHA all-hazards preparedness and internal medical supply chain resilience during large scale events (e.g., pandemics, national emergencies).
- Is the chief spokesperson at the executive level in all major Logistics, supply chain program reviews, inspections, conferences, evaluations, and major milestone events. Has executive responsibility for developing and implementing objectives, concepts, plans and standards for logistics to support VHA requirements.
- Maintains constant and extensive communication with Medical Center and VISN Leadership, VHA Clinical program offices, clinical field based experts and technical specialist to ensure input and coordination in key logistical decision making.
