CMS awards follow-on contract for Agile Software Development

Notice ID: DEX-LSJ
Contract Award Number: GS-35F-192BA
Task/Delivery Order Number:75FCMC22F0035

SemanticBits has been awarded a 4-month, $700k Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) follow-on contract for Agile Development/Agile Software Development.

“The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) published a final rule with comment (CMS-6058-FC) on September 10, 2019, that contains, in part, Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) provisions regarding the reporting and evaluation of affiliations between entities in the Medicare, Medicaid, and CHIP programs. The affiliations provisions are part of the implementation of Section 1902(kk)(3) of the Social Security Act (the Act), as amended by Section 6401(b) of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, which mandates that states require providers to comply with the same disclosure requirements established by the Secretary under section 1866(j)(5) of the Act. As a way to collect this information, DEX is currently in the process of building a functionality to ingest ownership/affiliations data. This work will be completed during the new contract period.”

“The new follow-on will allow enough time for the contractor to complete this build. This is required due to the CMS business owner’s agile approach to development, which allowed SemanticBits to pivot when user feedback dictated system development while staying within the scope of the project objectives. SemanticBits will continue to work on the functionality build to ensure the Data Exchange (DEX) system meets end user needs as well meeting federal requirements. As a result, CPI/PEOG requests that the DEX contract be extended for an additional 4 months from 3/30/22 to 7/29/22 to complete the current functionality build.”
