VA RFI: NCOD Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) FY 24

Notice ID: 36C77623Q0412

Description

The Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) is designed to assess the three aspects of the burnout syndrome: emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and lack of personal accomplishment. Each aspect is measured by a separate subscale. The Emotional Exhaustion (EE) subscale assesses feelings of being emotionally overextended and exhausted by one’s work.

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is dedicated to providing Veterans with world-class services. As we define new and better ways to serve, our ability to achieve intended outcomes depends on how well we engage employees in these efforts. “Burnout” is a multifaceted type of job stress where an individual experiences physical, emotional, or mental exhaustion along with doubt about the value of contributions at work.
