The major duties include but are not limited to:
- Participates in the review and implementation of policies, directives, program initiatives and VA, federal, local and granting agency regulations;
- Ensures the program’s overall fiscal and budgetary integrity for over 90 grant accounts, approving budget estimates, fiscal and program operating plans, budget requests, analyses and justifications;
- Prepares briefings for senior VA officials, local and national elected officials, affiliated organizations and others as appropriate;
- Responsible for employee projections, allocation and management; work organization; performance evaluation system; organizational charts and management of disciplinary actions and awards program;
- Develops programs and obtains resources for continuing education of principal investigators and research employees to meet training needs;
- Uses qualitative and quantitative statistical data analysis techniques to arrive at proposed recommendations and solutions;
- Assists with long-term and short-term strategic goals for the research program, staff development, funding avenues and collaborative initiatives with affiliated medical and educational institutions;
