The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) is seeking exceptional candidates for the position of Deputy Director for Management (DDM). This is a career Federal position in the Senior Executive Service (SES). See “Duties” section for a list of the major responsibilities.
Duties:
- The Deputy Director for Management, NIDA, is the principal advisor to the NIDA Director and the Institute’s senior staff on all phases of business management involved in operating the Institute.
- The DDM, who also serves as the Institute’s Executive Officer, makes or influences critical decisions in the day-to-day functions of NIDA, which has both national and international prominence.
- The DDM is responsible for analyzing, evaluating, and implementing rules and regulations governing the executive business and administrative activities of the Institute’s scientific programs and the research support services provided by its staff offices.
- In this capacity, the DDM is responsible for directing and supervising the financial management, workforce planning, management analysis, information technology management, general administrative management, and ethics.
- An acquisitions office that supports 5 institutes and centers, and the oversight of NIDA’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility programs.
- The DDM is directly responsible for overseeing approximately 90 FTEs.
