CDC Public Health Leader becomes HHS Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion/Chief Diversity Officer

Juanika Mainor Harper, a public health leader with over 20 years of experience working on organizational priority projects at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), has taken on a new challenge as Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion and Chief Diversity Officer at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Juanika brings experience working with country Ministers of Health, country health directors, elected officials and policy makers on high level work groups, task forces, and committees to develop policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Prior roles include:

  • Senior Advisor for Data Modernization – Public Health Service Implementation Science (Acting) – Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
  • Team Lead – Center for Global Health Informatics and Information Resource Office (Governance Team) – Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
  • Associate Chief of Science – Center for Global Health/DGHT/HIDMSB -Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
