“The incumbent functions as a Supervisory Health System Specialist (HSS) within the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Office of Health Informatics, Clinical Informatics and Data Management Office (CIDMO), Interagency Health Informatics (IHI) as the Director of Informatics Regulatory Affairs. The incumbent leads engagement activities regarding federal policy and regulatory matters for Clinical Informatics in the Veterans Health Administration (VHA).”
Responsibilities:
- Identifies, designs and implements new use cases for electronic health information governance, use and standards at the federal level and with DoD.
- Develops interdepartmental participation strategy designed to ensure maximum influence by VA in federal health informatics policies.
- Leads the protocol development, requirement design and implementation of new health IT national strategies that expand VAs partnership in the national community.
- Leads integration work with multiple Federal Agencies, often at the executive level, to coordinate and advance Health IT interoperability.
- Identifies opportunities for increased collaboration with industry informatics organizations.
- Coordinates extensively with stakeholders in the Office of Health Informatics, the Office of Information Technology (OIT), other Offices in VA, the Federal Electronic Health Record Modernization (FEHRM) Office, the Department of Defense and other federal and industry partners.
- Develops, recommends and coordinates approval of separate interagency informatics strategies for interagency governance, policy and external engagement, directly linking to VA and VHA strategies and supporting VA initiatives.
- Performs special studies and projects of highly confidential and complex nature, which can involve any aspect of Interagency Health Informatics Governance, Policy or External Engagement and often necessitate sensitive contacts.
- Provides leadership in the design, development, coordination, and evaluation of health record policy and standards on national basis and to support of DoD and VA national leadership.
- Leads Interagency Health Informatics (IHI) Governance, Policy and External Engagement and directs, manages, and coordinates the efforts of a professional staff.
- Provides oversight of subordinate staff leadership of cross-function workgroups with the Health Informatics Business Line and Interagency Clinical Informatics Board and ICIB Workgroups, and participation with IPTs with these nationwide organizations that produce policies and recommendations with national impact.
