“This position is in the Network Infrastructure Section, Information Technology Branch (ITB), Office of Administrative Management (OAM), National Institute on Aging (NIA). The Section Chief oversees the daily operations of NIA network infrastructure functions in support of the NIA mission. The Section Chief collaborates with other NIA offices concerning all aspects of data processing activities and provides technical consultation services to program managers and the Chief Information Officer.
Duties
- Responsible for analyzing and validating requirements throughout the Institute for acquiring new hardware and software; planning implementing and maintaining instillations, and recommending user training approaches to the Chief of the Office.
- Install and configuring of workspaces, file servers, network switches, cabling network cards, associate hardware, and cloud computing.
- Troubleshoot problems with Information Technology (IT) hardware and software resources.
- Implement established Institute wide security procedures; and advises and assists in implementing network, and computer security procedures for all operating units.
- Train Institute staff on the efficient use of IT resources through on-site visits with the users for support of the hardware and applications software.
- Develop procedures and guidelines for the implementation of new and upgraded system Local Area Network (LAN) resources.”
