“Department of Medicine-Infectious Disease Division here at VAGLAHS has a need for a contract vehicle which will allow the division to be in compliance of a requirement for a Clinical Surveillance System, with associated services necessary for development and deployment of the solution, that interfaces with existing data resources:
- Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture (VISTA)
- Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS)-ADT (patient movement)
- PIMS/AIMS systems
- Bed Management
- Outpatient pharmacy
- Problem List Lab/Microbiology (Inpatient and Outpatient)
- Vital signs (Inpatient and Outpatient)
- Radiology (Inpatient and Outpatient)
- Pathology/Surgery (Inpatient and Outpatient)
- Bar Code Medication Administration (BCMA)
- Others as necessary.”
“The proprietor of this Clinical Surveillance System must have the ability to provide solution to clinical staff with immediate real-time list of patients, identify patients who require clinical interventions and to alert clinical staff of patients who need protection from adverse events and drug interactions.”
“Without utilization of a proprietary clinical surveillance system, Infectious Disease Division cannot manually analyze significant data points capture by VISTA on patients in time to allow for clinicians to intervene faster, reduce length of stay among in-patients, and make adjustments and/or appropriate usage of antimicrobials…”
“The Contractor shall provide the following services:
- Meets all the requirements and would be operational within 90 days of post award
- Meets data, alerting and workflow needs for a broad range of healthcare professionals including pharmacists, infection preventionists, physicians, nurses, laboratory, and others requiring access to clinical data
- Supports Infectious Disease Division here at VAGLAHS with 24/7 maintenance and it must include troubleshooting, software fixes and patches, new software versions, services and enhancements
- Creates antimicrobial usage reports (days of therapy [DOT]), i.e. denominated at DOT/1000 days to present
- Creates unit-based antibiogram reports (1st isolate methodology)
- Creates report charting antimicrobial resistance trends
- Customize alert for newly ordered targeted antimicrobials for prospective review/intervention
- Must have built-in alerting system for antimicrobial drug/bug mismatch
- Ability to generate report for in-patient (includes in-patient orders and BCMA) and/or for outpatient drug usage (both must be available to users)
- Ability to document pharmacist interventions for prescribing errors by intervention type, i.e. dose adjustment, change drug, allergy prevention, IV-to PO conversion
- Ability to customize reports
- Ability to create alerts and reports for patients on anticoagulation therapy or for those requiring therapeutic drug monitoring…”
