“Responsibilities
This position is located in the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Office of the Assistant Under Secretary for Health (AUSH) for Operations.
The ED/HOC provides leadership, direction, and oversight of the Healthcare Operations Center, which provides daily operational support to and management of the Veterans Integrated Service Networks, routine monitoring and analytics of operational, quality, and productivity metrics, and implementation of enterprise-wide initiatives. Collaborates with leaders across the Department to identify mutual goals and solutions that might improve efficiencies in healthcare operations and for the provision of medical services to Veterans as well as the nation.
The Executive Director, Healthcare Operations Center (ED/HOC) reports to the Deputy AUSH for Operations and is delegated broad authority to carry out responsibilities with established VHA guidelines and policies. Responsibilities include, but not limited to the following:
- Overall responsibility, as well as delegated authority for the oversight and administration of broad emerging, and/or critical Agency healthcare operations, to achieve specified goals and objectives.
- Provides leadership and technical support to the AUSH and other staff in the formulation and administration of healthcare operations policies affecting VHA healthcare programs and activities.
- Collaborates with all VHA Program Offices to develop long-range strategic plans for delivery of healthcare and daily operational monitoring of the entire VHA system.
- Oversees Program Directors in the area of Field Operations.
- Assists the Deputy AUSH for Operations in dealing with matters that extend well beyond the assigned program responsibility.
- Fosters integration of state of the art, technology and innovative processes and systems to maintain and deliver the highest level of services.
- Review and analyze health care data to assist with the care management and decision making related to health care operations.
- Assists with monitoring and analyzing health care data to determine trends and patterns.
- Prepares reports for executive leadership that illustrates trends, patterns and predictions relevant to data.
- Collaborates with VHA Program Offices to identify opportunities for process improvements, recommend system modifications, and develop policies for data governance.”
