DOD Healthcare Management System Modernization Program Management Office taps Assistant Program Manager for MHS GENESIS

Shanell Guardo, a senior leader with over 10 years of experience in defense financial and program management, including experience in large-scale information technology (IT) acquisition, deployment and sustainment of the Defense Department’s multi-billion dollar Electronic Health Record (EHR) program, has taken on a new challenge as Assistant Program Manager – Operations & Support at the DOD Healthcare Management System Modernization Program Management Office.

In this role Shanell leads a diverse team purposed to sustain the DOD’s $4.3B Electronic Health Record, MHS GENESIS and focused on identifying root causes and resolutions for safety and critical medical readiness degrading issues across the DHMSM PMO for MHS GENESIS, Data Exchange Services (DES), Joint Longitudinal Viewer (JLV), Bidirectional Health Information Exchange-Share (BHIE-SHARE) and Clinical Data Repository/Health Data Repository Exchanges (CHDR).

Prior roles include:

  • Electronic Health Record Deployment Manager – DOD Healthcare Management System Modernization Program Management Office
  • Group Practice Manager/MHS GENESIS Super User – United States Air Force
  • Medical Logistics Operations Manager – United States Air Force
