Optum seeking Vice President Growth Strategy, Federal Health

“Reporting to the Chief Growth Officer, this role will lead growth strategy and account planning for the OptumServe business. This position will partner across the OptumServe team and the broader Optum and UHG organizations on understanding and assessing the external landscape, establish organizational and segment-specific business strategies aligned with the vision of the organization, and define key enablers based on trends and opportunities in the market.  This position will need to be highly collaborative and influential across the OptumServe team and broader enterprise to assess opportunities for partnership and further enterprise strategic initiatives.”   

“Specific areas of responsibility include: 

  • Lead growth strategy development and execution including supporting annual and long-range business planning,  and growth direction for capital planning across OptumServe and its business units 
  • Developing broad-based growth strategies as well as segment-specific areas for growth (in-market strategies, geographic expansion and business line expansion) 
  • Translating broad strategies into clear objectives and practical action plans to grow and support the markets we serve (Defense Health Agency, VA, CMS, FDA and other federal agencies) 
  • Developing and implementing account-based strategies including executive call plans in support of strategic objectives 
  • Measuring effectiveness of strategies on market penetration and growth…” 

“Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • 15+ years of experience leading business strategies and market intelligence analysis for potential market opportunities 
  • 10+ years of relevant industry experience (healthcare and federal government) 
  • 7+ years of experience developing business strategies and planning, including experience with market overviews, understanding competitive positioning, analyzing market trends, capital planning and understanding customer needs  
  • Experience managing and prioritizing multiple projects to ensure their quality and on-time delivery…” 

“Preferred Qualifications: 

  • MBA 
  • Extensive experience in the healthcare industry 
  • Understanding of Department of Defense (DOD), Veterans Administration (VA) and Health and Human Services (HHS) markets 
  • Able to balance strategic thinking with the urgency to drive work forward 
  • Adapt quickly to changes in work direction and able to pivot work accordingly…”
