NIH NCI Sources Sought: Scientific Support Services

“The overall scope is for project management and scientific support for initiatives, programs, concepts, projects, and public-private partnerships coordinated by the National Cancer Institute (NCI). These activities require expertise in cancer biology and oncology, experimental and computational technologies, biomarker science, imaging technologies, regulatory affairs, research project management, business plan development, scientific writing, meeting implementation, and general business documentation. This scope will also include providing integrated scientific, technical, regulatory, bioinformatics, and overall research and development support to NCI, The Foundation for the NIH, Inc. (FNIH) Biomarkers Consortium and to industry, including large and small pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies and biomedical research institutes.”

“Overall Task Areas Task Area #1: Support NCI program leadership, program staff, and other stakeholders with strategy development and support for scientific planning, implementation, and assessment for CSSI and the National Cancer Institute initiatives.”

“Tasks shall include:

  1. Review scientific literature and publicly available data (such as FDA data) to prepare written summaries to: 1) keep CSSI, NCI, and individual initiatives abreast of the current state of the field and complementary research initiatives and 2) provide in-depth analyses of topics as requested, such as, biomarkers; laboratory technologies and imaging modalities; animal models; and cancer therapies and adverse effects.
  2. Perform program evaluations tasks and activities to support NCI program renewals and research planning, such as, convening evaluation panels and collecting and presenting data on publications, patents, clinical trials, and other research outputs.
  3. Review scientific literature research and for in-depth analysis of topics
  4. Attend think tanks and working group meetings, document key discussions, topics, and themes, and develop high-level summaries and/or manuscripts.
  5. Propose and support new and innovative pilot opportunities and ventures extracted from NCI Division and Center workshops, scientific meetings, and/or literature review…”

“Task Area #2: Provide scientific and project strategy, planning, and support for public-private partnerships, multiagency program, and other initiatives. This includes but is not limited to the High Content Data Integration (HCDI) Working Group of the Biomarkers Consortium (BC) Cancer Steering Committee (CSC), as well as other CSC Working Groups and committees.”

“Tasks shall include:

  1. Assist committees and working groups with identification of key membership and expertise. 2 Includes scientific literature/media research to identify scientists with relevant expertise, as well as administrative functions to maintain rosters of committee members.
  2. Perform scientific literature review and research and prepare written summaries for identification of laboratory technologies, computational tools, and biomarkers with clinical/translational potential. Include information to address both scientific and economic criteria for qualifying candidate tools and approaches.
  3. Assist committees and working groups in developing priority ranking of projects by drafting criteria for determining their success and potential impact…”
