“The Department of Veterans Affairs will do a strategic review of its electronic health record modernization program. A top detail review of the $16 billion system will take up to three months.
- Jennifer MacDonald, MD, Senior Advisor to the Acting Deputy Secretary at the VA, said this review is an opportunity to look at the clinical workflows, engagement with patients and the productivity at the VA’s first implementation site of Spokane, Washington as well as make sure veterans are getting what they need from the technology in the patient portal.
- MacDonald said the VA is listening intently to feedback from veterans and healthcare providers pertaining to some issues affecting patient-provider interaction at the Mann-Grandstaff site in Spokane.
