VA seeking Sr. Technical Advisor within the Office of the Assistant Secretary and CIO

“This position serves as a senior Technical Advisor within the Office of the Assistant Secretary and Chief Information Officer (CIO), Office of Information and Technology (OIT). The incumbent serves as the senior strategic technical advisor to the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary (PDAS), OIT to provide technical advice and strategic planning, policies, recommendations, and guidance for major Department-wide IT programs.” 

“Major Duties: 

  • Provides strategic technical direction for major VA IT programs to include synchronizing the efforts and input of internal and external technical experts and stakeholders. 
  • Assesses and provides strategic technical direction across VA on IT personnel, budget, infrastructure, policy enforcement, and cybersecurity and/or other resource requirements. 
  • Provides oversight to ensure program/project work is aligned to federal regulations and the direction and priorities of the Assistant Secretary/CIO and the Secretary as well as the strategic view developed by the CIO. 
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for unexpected issues that arise within the organization. 
  • Reviews the work of six OIT organizational pillars executing against the $4.2B VA IT Appropriation with over 15,000 employees and contractors. Ensures CIO goals, objectives, activities, and task are being met as intended and within the bounds of the established schedule.”
