HHS OIG seeking Assistant IG for IT/Chief Information Officer

“The Assistant Inspector General/Chief Information Officer leads the Office of Information Technology, which provides cutting edge IT services to a national organization that stretches from Hawaii to Puerto Rico. You will plan, develop and deploy secure and sophisticated platforms and tools to drive positive change for law enforcement agents, auditors, evaluators, analysts and other OIG employees to enable the fight against fraud, waste and abuse in HHS programs and to protect HHS beneficiaries.”  

“Responsibilities 

The Assistant Inspector General for Information Technology/Chief Information Officer (CIO) reports directly to the Deputy Inspector General for Management and Policy (DIG-MP) and shares responsibility for carrying out OIG’s Information Resources Management program. The CIO provides executive direction and supervision to the Chief Technology Officer and the Directors of the following Office of Information Technology (OIT) Divisions: 

  • Architecture and Transformation 
  • Information Assurance 
  • Operations Management 

The CIO has Information Resources Management (IRM) identified as their primary responsibility. As defined by Office of Management and Budget Circular A-130, IRM encompasses both information itself and the related resources, such as personnel, equipment, funds, and information technology.” 

“The CIO carries out IRM responsibilities by effective identification and deployment of IT through broad awareness of current and emerging IT capabilities, standards, policies and law. 

If selected, you will be responsible for the following core areas required for an effective and compliant IRM program and operation of the IT services required to efficiently and effectively support the OIG national workforce: 

Policy and Organization; 

  • Leadership and IT Human Capital Management; 
  • Process and Change Management; 
  • Information Resources Strategy and Planning; 
  • IT Performance Assessment; 
  • Models and Methods; 
  • IT Project and Program Management; 
  • Capital Planning and Investment Control; 
  • Acquisition; 
  • Information and Knowledge Management; 
  • Cybersecurity/Information Assurance; 
  • Enterprise Architecture; and 
  • Technology Management and Assessment. 

As CIO, you will also deal with: 

  • Privacy issues for personally identifiable information (PII) and personal health information (PHI) processed at OIG; 
  • Freedom of Information Act and Privacy Act requirements; 
  • Open Government mandates; and 
  • Accessibility issues, as well as the preservation of records to comply with business, operating, regulatory and legal requirements…
