FDA seeks IT leader to drive Web and Digital Services for the agency

This position is located in the Office of External Affairs (OEA), Web and Digital Services Staff located in Silver Spring, MD which is responsible for developing and interpreting the Agency’s web policies and serves as advocates for FDA’s web presence and calalysts for the creative use of web and digital media by the agency. OEA serves as the central point of communication and education about the FDA’s public health and regulatory activity.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct and oversee the development and implementation of state-of-the-art technology-based improvement projects designed to improve FDA’s public-facing web site.
  • Serve as a champion for user-centered design (UCD) principles for FDA to ensure an iterative design process that focuses on users during each design phase.
  • Stay abreast of current and future technologies and make recommendations to the Director for acquiring and implementing these technologies to improve FDA’s digital offerings.
  • Oversee the development and analysis of customer relationship information from a variety of resources including web site traffic statistics, web logs, usability testing data provided by third-party vendors, call center inquiries, on-line surveys, focus groups, consumer research trials, and other sources.
  • Design, implement, and iterate a digital strategy that adheres to the HHS digital strategy and effectively informs the public about FDA’s mission and priorities; monitor the program; and develop and utilize metrics that are used to shape future communications.
