DHA MHS EHR Functional Champion departs, takes lead role for DoD COVID-19 Task Force Diagnostics & Testing

Dr. Lee Payne, a Physician Executive leader who brings recent perspective providing oversight of the Office of the Chief Medical Informatics Office, and for ensuring the success of the new EHR, while leading a joint Agency enabling the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps medical services to provide a medically ready force and ready medical force to Combatant Commands, has recently taken on a new challenge as COVID-19 Task Force Diagnostics & Testing Lead at United States Department of Defense.

In his new role, Dr. Payne supports the execution of the Department’s COVID-19 testing strategy and the Secretary’s direction to protect our service members and their families, execute the defense of the Nation, and to participate in the whole-of-government response to the global pandemic.

Prior roles include:

  • MHS Genesis Functional Champion – Defense Health Agency
  • Assistant Director, Combat Support Agency – Defense Health Agency
  • Command Surgeon, Air Mobility Command – United States Air Force
