VA seeking Executive Director Veteran Readiness and Employment Service

“The Executive Director Veteran Readiness & Employment Service is responsible for programs and services within the context of VA’s overall operating structure that assist Veterans with job training, employment accommodations, resume development, and job seeking skills coaching. Other services may include assisting Veterans and Servicemembers in starting their own businesses or independent living services for those who are severely disabled and unable to work in traditional employment.” 

“Responsibilities 

The Executive Director, Veteran Readiness & Employment (VR&E) Service is responsible for providing executive oversight, evaluation, and leadership for the VR&E Service. The incumbent oversees the development and evaluation of policies, plans and procedures necessary to effectively implement agency-wide programs in the areas of vocational rehabilitation and employment services for Veterans and their dependents. This includes developing criteria and standards for managing, organizing and staffing activities in Central Office; analyzing and making appropriate recommendations on program-related legislation; coordinating program activities with other services, Federal and State agencies, and associations and institutions in the Veterans’ and professional education, rehabilitation, and employment communities. Providing policy guidance and technical instruction to VA personnel in regional offices. Providing day to day oversight of VR&E Service functions to include, but not limited to, budget formulation and execution, staffing and recruitment, continuous process improvement, and program management and leadership. Responsible for oversight of the approval of programs, services, and information technology utilized by VR&E Service. Reviews proposed legislation and Executive orders pertaining to the various VR&E programs and services; comments, recommends, and implements appropriate action. Participates in Congressional hearings on proposed legislation and program oversight.”
