“As Director, Digital Services Office (DSO), you will:
- Report directly to the CDC Chief Information Officer (CIO) with responsibility for modernizing the DSO to provide cutting-edge digital services to CDC, including, but not limited to, agile application development, robust enterprise cloud services, advanced data analytics, and visualization capabilities;
- Establish a vision, strategy, and operational plan that will result in a transformed organization to leverage modern technology including unlimited access, unlimited reach and unrivaled intelligence to improve the mission of public health;
- Maintain and enhance a robust, secure, and reliable network infrastructure to meet the technology needs of CDC now and in the future to perform critical mission functions to support the nation’s health;
- Manage the planning, direction, and execution of a budget to optimize delivery and increase the collective responsiveness of digital services on an enterprise-wide basis and CDC-wide contracts for digital products and services;
- Provide recommendations for future directions to the CIO or Deputy CIO on relevant industry practices and federal guidance and offer solutions that emphasize customer-centered, outcomes-focused digital services;
- Direct the processes that create an organization focused on continuous improvement to incorporate user feedback, best practices within the industry, changing agency needs, and emerging technologies in the marketplace;
- Manage the CDC-wide IT infrastructure continuity of operations and disaster recovery capabilities ensuring integrity, availability, security and recoverability of critical data and systems;
- Represent the OCIO and CDC in meetings with HHS, other federal agencies and external partners, as well as provide advice and information on DSO services and programs to CDC senior management and Center, Institute, and Office Directors;
- Supervise a highly technical staff of CDC technologists, computer scientists, network engineers, product managers, data scientists, and informaticians within DSO and OCIO to provide exceptional services to the agency;
- Partner with other offices within the OCIO and CDC for delivery of digital services by collaborating with experts on a wide range of technical and non-technical areas.”
