Today, we officially welcome Dr. Brian Lein to his new role as the Defense Health Agency Assistant Director for Health Care Administration. Dr. Lein is no stranger to the Military Health System, having retired a couple of years ago after a distinguished career in Army medicine. He possesses the ideal combination of knowledge, expertise, experience and leadership; which will serve him well as we build on the exceptional work leading to a more integrated and effective system of readiness and health care delivery. Brian’s career encompasses over 18 years of operational and executive experience in national and international healthcare management, research, development, and training, including Deputy Director (COO) of Army Medicine, Director of the DoD’s largest medical research and development organization, CEO of two large inpatient healthcare facilities, ending as the President of the Army Medical Department Center and School and the Senior Physician in the Army.
Prior roles include:
- Serology Lead, COVID Task Force – U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS)
- Commander – US Army Medical Department Center and School
- Commander – US Army Medical Research and Materiel Command
