IBA is proud to announce that FedHealthIT has recognized the Defense Health Agency (DHA) Narcotics Ordering Review and Approval (NORA) program with a 2020 FedHealthIT Innovation Award.
NORA is a government-developed, web-based application that enables electronic submission, review, and approval of Schedule II controlled substances. Because Schedule II substances have a high potential for abuse, the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) mandates strict controls and approvals, and historically the Department of Defense (DoD) medical facilities relied on manual processes and paper forms to request these drugs. NORA automates the ordering process and expedites delivery for recipients, bringing the Military Health System (MHS) into alignment with industry best practices. NORA has also reduced the need for DoD customers to maintain large pharmaceutical inventories, consequently reducing cost.
IBA team members supported the development of NORA at the Joint Medical Logistics Functional Development Center (JMLFDC) at Fort Detrick, Maryland, which is aligned under DHA’s Solution Delivery Division (SDD). Now that the product is in sustainment, IBA continues to provide functional and operational support for the more than 300 approved NORA users. Read the full press release here.
