NIH NIEHS seeking Chief Information Officer

“Responsibilities 

  • Oversee the management and operation of all central computing systems; coordinates data communications activities. 
  • Oversee and manage the development of scientific and administrative information systems. 
  • Support and coordinate institute IT governance councils or committees that identify new directions and requirements for the organization’s IT program based on programmatic needs. 
  • Guide researchers and administrators in selecting IT technical approaches, contracting methods, and administrative procedures for meeting their information processing requirements. 
  • Develop strategies to ensure disaster recovery and continuity of operations during system transitions and emergency situations. 
  • Formulate of a budget for enterprise IT services including network and help desk support, software, information security, application development, and specialized scientific IT requirements. 
  • Design and implement an institute-wide IT architecture based on standards of open computing and consistent with NIH, HHS, and other government standards. 
  • Plan and organize the functions of the branch, delegating appropriate functions and responsibilities to the heads of subordinate work groups …”
