Lantana Consulting Group adds Chief Scientist and Director of Information Analysis and Technology

“Lantana Consulting Group is pleased to announce that Andrew Laing has joined as Director of Information Analysis and Technology. Laing comes to Lantana from the State of Vermont where he served as the Agency of Human Services Director of Business Architecture and later the state’s first Chief Data Officer. Through integration, data platform, and data governance projects, Laing brought the state’s data management, interoperability, and analytic capabilities to a higher level of maturity, leveraging his expertise and experience in systems engineering and enterprise architecture.”

“I am excited to join the Lantana team,” says Laing. “Lantana is well known as an expert in health information exchange, reporting, and interchange standards, providing a level of service second to none. I am looking forward to contributing to Lantana as it helps clients capitalize on their data assets.”

“We gained tremendous respect for Andrew and his approach to systems architecture and problem solving during our work on Vermont’s statewide health information planning efforts,” added Lantana CEO, Liora Alschuler. “His skills and outlook are a great complement to our staff and we are excited about what we can do together.”

“At Lantana, Andrew will be working primarily with state and private sector clients, reviewing how they acquire, incorporate, and use health information looking to improve business processes. Laing will be supported by Lantana’s deep bench of analysts, engineers, and clinical informaticists to design solutions that meet client’s evolving needs and user stories.”

In addition, “Lantana Consulting Group is pleased to announce that Nadine Shehab, PharmD, MPH has joined the company as Chief Scientist. Shehab will continue her work at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) where she provided leadership in adverse drug event (ADE) surveillance using a national public health surveillance system to help set national medication safety priorities and inform medication safety quality measures for the past 13 years. Her efforts on ADE reporting complements the work Lantana has done on pharmacy quality reporting and care planning.”

“This is such an exciting time to be joining a company like Lantana,” says Shehab. “There is tremendous opportunity to advance medication and patient safety, reduce clinician burden, and improve healthcare delivery through the type of innovative and transformative work that Lantana leads. I am eager to explore the pharmacy, public health, and health IT intersections—where there remains so much untapped synergy—while being part of a company like this one.”

Liora Alschuler, Lantana’s CEO, adds, “We are thrilled to have Nadine on board. Her skills and leadership are coming at the perfect time as we extend our experience in clinical data, quality, and public health reporting into new areas of measurement and analytics.”

“Shehab was the principal or co-investigator for several high-profile, peer-reviewed epidemiologic studies characterizing the burden of U.S. emergency department visits and hospitalizations for outpatient ADEs. She served as CDC liaison to standards-setting committees and expert panels to help translate CDC public health data into patient safety policies and led several engagements with federal and non-federal partners, including the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, the Food and Drug Administration, and the United States Pharmacopeia.”
