VA RFI: Information Technology Collegiate Recruiting Initiative

OIT is facing many challenges with respect to recruiting and hiring. Most critically, only half a percent of its workforce is under the age of 30.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) currently benefits greatly from a consortium of universities (AT-CTI – Air Traffic – Collegiate Training Initiative) that delivers curriculum and college degrees to students to provide first-hand experience and education designed to produce a high-quality air traffic controller prospect for the FAA. Although there is no guarantee of employment, the FAA views AT-CTI graduates as an invaluable hiring source to meet its need for air traffic controllers now and in the future.

VA OIT is now seeking a contractor partnership to design and leverage a university consortium similar to the FAA AT-CTI, to deliver high-quality IT recruits ready to join VA and contribute immediately toward OIT mission accomplishment.

The Contractor shall collaborate with VA to form a consortium of universities capable of providing a valuable source of IT talent from which the VA can recruit and hire quickly. The universities selected to make up the consortium shall be capable of providing their candidates the skills and education necessary to work successfully within VA OIT, accomplishing the OIT mission of collaborating with its business partners to create the best experience for US Veterans.
