“The Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) is located in the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Office of the Principal Deputy Under Secretary for Health (PDUSH). This position is within the Office of Electronic Health Records Management (OEHRM) and has overall responsibility for informatics within this office. The CMIO has overall responsibility for National Health Information and Informatics Strategy and execution. The CMIO, has responsibility for the operations and management of direct activities associated with the EHR Councils, which oversee the configuration and execution of workflows. This requires joint coordination with the DoD. The CMIO works collaboratively with various Chief Officers and key officials throughout VHA and VA as well as DoD to ensure effective governance and the accomplishment of VA and VHA’s strategic initiatives, policies and mission.”
