The VA has issued an RFI seeking a Single Identity Service (SIS) to manage both the Department of Defense (DoD) and VA patient identities in a combined Electronic Health Record to meet the needs of its Military Health System (MHS) Genesis system.
Alignment includes patient enumeration, identity trait maintenance across both federal agencies and adding new patients to the combined Cerner EHR platform. To accomplish this, joint DoD and VA business rules must be developed and agreed upon. The SIS will act as the single point of patient identity management for the combined EHR.
Questions and RFI responses are due December 22, 2017.
