HHS CTO Bruce Greenstein says his agency is focused beyond technology to business drivers that will change the way HHS delivers services, the way it is organized, that will drive best use of technology and make the organization run more efficiently.
As an agency with a $1 trillion budget and more than 79,000 staff, HHS relies on contractors and is trying to engage the private sector in a more meaningful and robust way. This includes creating a front door for HHS to allow companies to better understand the agency’s values, priorities and processes.
He offers advice to CIOs or technology leaders wishing to work within the Federal space to “double and triple the speed at which you are working, to recognize the responsibility…”
