Establishing seamless medical data sharing between the Department of Defense (DoD), the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), and the private sector.
PEO DHMS was chartered by the Secretary of Defense on May 21, 2013 to improve the health care of the active duty military, Veterans, and their beneficiaries by modernizing the MHS EHR and establishing seamless medical data sharing between the DoD, the VA, and the private sector. PEO DHMS is administratively attached to the Defense Health Agency (DHA), with a direct reporting relationship to the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics (USD AT&L).
