Summary
The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality is the lead Federal agency charged with improving the safety and quality of healthcare for all Americans. The Center for Evidence and Practice Improvement (CEPI) conducts and supports research on healthcare delivery and practice improvement across the continuum of care, from prevention to chronic care management to end-of-life care.
ABOUT THE POSITION
Directs a national portfolio of health services, health systems, and implementation research focused on critical programmatic areas including: systematic evidence review; methods and measures of clinical decision-making and patient engagement; use of technology to improve clinical decision-making; and quality, data and methods related to healthcare delivery and systems research, technical support, and resource development to improve clinical practice improvement; and how those methods can be applied to primary care.
Provides leadership and oversight for CEPI’s research agenda. Directs staff to undertake programmatic assessments of research activities to identify gaps, prioritize needs, and develop strategies to improve overall program effectiveness and efficiency and to meet evolving policy and population health priorities. Independently establishes and maintains relationships with academic and practice-based healthcare communities involved in evidence synthesis, clinical decision-making, digital healthcare, healthcare systems research, practice improvement, and primary care research to integrate approaches in the fields of evidence synthesis, clinical decision making, digital healthcare, health systems research, practice improvement, and primary care research.
Serves as principal advisor to the Director, AHRQ, and other senior Agency officials on all matters related to CEPI’s mission and program initiatives.
