We’re thrilled to announce that we’ve been awarded a two-year, $4 million contract from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to make it easier for people to verify their income so they can get access to benefits from programs like Medicaid and SNAP.
Nava is a public benefit corporation working to make government services simple, effective, and accessible to all. We focus on government programs that impact vulnerable populations because that’s where the stakes are highest. We’re excited to embark on this mission-aligned work to make it easier for people to get certified for and receive benefits. This work will further the effort directed in the President’s Executive Order on transforming Federal customer experience and rebuild trust in government.
“One in four workers uses benefits at some point each year. We will be working with our partners at CMS and USDS to make it easier for people to navigate the process of applying for benefits,” said Nava Federal Health Program Director Marvin McLain. “Nava will collaborate with CMS and USDS to improve the underlying federal data infrastructure so that benefits programs can easily talk to one another. This will reduce the number of times an applicant has to share information about their income, ultimately saving time for both the applicant and program staff.”
Our background with shared services for income verification extends back to 2016, when we helped CMS leverage existing data sources to determine income eligibility on HealthCare.gov. Since then, we’ve worked to integrate benefits programs at the state level, making it easier for people to receive benefits while reducing administrative burden for civil servants.
