CDC RFP: Chemical Inventory & Waste Management System

Notice ID: 75D301-2023-R-72803

Description

The purpose of this procurement is to acquire a chemical inventory and waste management system that will serve multiple CDC laboratories across several different campuses. Under this contract, the vendor will work with the CDC implementation teams to configure the system to support all laboratories, transfer all legacy data from existing systems (i.e., CHaTS and OWTS), integrate data from CDC user and location databases (i.e., MISB and IFMS), and maintain a high level of IT security in a high-performance environment.

The vendor will provide services to train CDC staff and assist CDC ‘power users’ to configure the software and, at the program level, deploy the system; validate system readiness; and migrate existing barcode and chemical profile data. Ongoing vendor support will include maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements, maintaining system up-time and performance, and mitigating software defects and security vulnerabilities.

Overall Objectives

  1. Establish container level-tracking at CDC laboratories through an improved software interface with easily accessible chemical hazard information.
  2. Easy access to up-to-date SDSs for all chemicals.
  3. Increase the ease with which laboratorians create satellite accumulation area labels and waste pick-up tickets. Link chemical inventory data directly to hazardous waste module for expired chemicals.
  4. Meet regulatory requirements by generating reports (i.e., the Chemical Inventory module must report flammable quantities per floor of each building, the Waste Module must produce reports on hazardous waste generation per the EPA requirements for each CDC location).
