Summary
This position serves as a senior Technical Advisor within the Office of the Assistant Secretary and Chief Information Officer (CIO), Office of Information and Technology (OIT). The incumbent serves as the senior strategic technical advisor to the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary (PDAS), OIT to provide technical advice and strategic planning, policies, recommendations, and guidance for major Department-wide IT programs.
Duties

Major Duties:
- Provides technical direction for major IT programs to include synchronizing the efforts and input of internal and external technical experts, vendors, and stakeholders.
- Assesses and provides technical direction IT personnel, budget, infrastructure, policy enforcement, cybersecurity, and/or other resource requirements.
- Provides oversight to ensure program/project work is aligned to federal regulations, the direction and priorities of the VA Secretary, OIT Assistant Secretary/CIO and the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary (PDAS) for OIT as well as the strategy and strategic plan developed by VA’s Office of Information and Technology.
- Serves as the primary point of contact for unexpected issues that arise within the organization to ensure those issues are tasked to the appropriate organizational units and that the assignments are completed timely and with appropriate quality.
- Reviews the work of all OIT organizational pillars assigned to PDAS to ensure they are executing assigned mission tasks timely, to assist in resolving issues, and to facilitate coordinated communication among them. Ensures CIO goals, objectives, activities, and task are being met as intended and within the bounds of the established schedule.
