As the Director of the Technology Transfer Office (TTO), you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day technology transfer program and activities of the office, providing leadership and oversight of technology transfer services in support of the biomedical research mission. You will also serve as the principal advisor to senior leadership on all matters related to technology transfer, intellectual property, patenting, conditional gifts and licensing.
Duties:
- Provides leadership and direction on all matters related to the development and management of technology transfer, intellectual property, patenting and licensing.
- Performs and/or oversees subordinate employees in their development of technology transfer activities.
- Prepares and presents operational and management evaluations and reports on agreements for technology transfer.
- Attends and contributes to trans-NIH committees and working groups related to the TTO’s areas of responsibility.
- Develops presentations for conferences and management officials of HHS, NIH, and other agencies on patenting and licensing, which may address controversial issues or seek to resolve significant program challenges.
- Establishes and maintains liaison with operating programs and management officials to ensure that services provided by the TTO are meeting program needs and requirements.
- Consults with the Office of General Counsel, NHGRI Financial Management Branch, and other offices within NHGRI and NIH to receive guidance and opinion on matters related to major duties of the TTO.
