“The Supervisory Health System Specialist (Chief, Corporate Compliance) position is at the full performance level in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN), Station Health Care Systems (HCS) in the Director’s Office Service line. The incumbent reports to the Medical Center Director and has daily contact with other members of the Executive Leadership Team to carry out the duties of this position.”
Responsibilities:
- Conducts audits, analyzes data and completes investigations.
- Conducts routine monitoring in areas of previous compliance-related failures.
- Analyzes data and develops recommendations, considering individual, policy, process, and system failures in determining the root cause.
- Has knowledge of and/or be involved in investigative and compliance activities of a highly sensitive nature
- Directs, develops, implements, and oversees multi-disciplinary, health-care system-wide Compliance Section within the scope of the VHA mandated Research Program, Privacy/ FOIA Program, Records Management Program, Conflict of Interest, and Compliance & Business Integrity (CBI) Program
- Ensures that there are risk-driven internal controls in place throughout the healthcare system to monitor Compliance Section activities and these controls are reviewed by the Compliance Committee on a periodic basis
- Ensures that the policies and procedures within each program area align with VA Central Office, VA Office of Inspector General, as well as other organizations that provide oversight of the healthcare system.
- Conducts and/or coordinates investigations on reported incidents of non-compliance with VHA administrative policies and directives pursuant to VHA policy.
- Possess in depth knowledge of health care compliance program operating procedures.
