The Executive Director, Strategy and Operations organizationally assigned to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration, Institute for Learning, Education and Development, Office of the Chief Learning Officer (CLO). This position reports directly to the CLO and is responsible for the strategy, technology and business operations which enable and support learning and development throughout the VA.
The office of the Chief Learning Officer (CLO) is responsible for the development and implementation of administration-wide leadership and employee development policies and programs for the education and training of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) workforce, comprised of over 373,000 employees and over 123,000 residents and trainees. These individuals provide care for 8.97 million Veterans at 1,365 facilities and outpatient sites. This training delivers greater than 5 million hours of continuing education annually, making VA the largest single provider of continuing education in the United States.
The Executive Director, Strategy and Operations reports to the CLO. The responsibilities include, but not limited to the following:
- Serves as executive over the day-to-day operations of budget, contracting, long range strategic planning, training policy, and technology for the Institute of Learning, Education and Development (ILEAD) on behalf of the CLO.
- Has delegated broad authority and responsibility for the leadership, analysis and review of all employee learning and development programs and organizational business operations throughout VA and Veterans Health Administration (VHA) and its coordination with policy and developing policy guidance as needed.
