Although April Fools’ Day and the IRS Tax Deadline have passed, don’t be fooled by this week’s Contract Data Points Agency in focus: CMS.
The fiscal year was halfway complete at the end of March, but that doesn’t mean that CMS is halfway through the FY 2022 awards. Here’s what the comparative data is showing through 6 months of FY 2021 and FY 2022:
Halfway thru the FY 2022, CMS has awarded 16 more new awards FY 2022, yet the total in new awards and contract mods was almost double in FY2021 at this point in the FY.
Contract types remain largely fixed price and that is not expected to change in FY2022.
Set-Asides
FY 2022 Multiple Award Winners (contracts and task orders):More small business set-aside awards appear to be taking place in FY 2022, and the number of 8(a) sole source awards are significantly higher at this point in FY2022.
Three Wins:
- SemanticBits
Two Wins:
- Actuarial Research Corporation (ARC)
- Coforma
- Cognosante
- Fearless Solutions
- Innosoft
- Mathematica
- Next Phase
- Quality Technology (“QuTech”)
- Radiant Infotech
- RELI Group
- Sparksoft
I’m not sure exactly what all of this data means for those looking to win new work at CMS, but rest assured, there is a fury of activity taking place on the program side of CMS putting the procurement packages together for new awards and contract modifications. However, it looks like it is going to be another good year for small businesses at CMS. Regarding new awards, 232 contracts and task orders are expiring from April 1, 2022 and September 30, so with a bit of luck and hard work, I’ll be seeing your company’s data in FPDS soon.
Happy hunting during the remainder of FY 2022.
