CDC to award contract for CKD Health Policy Model Update

“The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to award a sole source firm fixed price purchase order to RESEARCH TRIANGLE INSTITUTE for the update and expansion of the current CKD Health Policy Model.”

“RTI is a non-profit research institute with long-standing experience in microsimulation modelling of diabetes and chronic kidney disease risk and progression and has had several previous collaborations with CDC on cost-effectiveness studies related to these chronic conditions. The group has extensive knowledge and expertise in the coordination, acquisition, and analysis of data relevant to constructing model indicators, as they were instrumental in conceptualizing the CKD Health Policy model. The current application takes advantage of previously established collaboration, to update the original model.”

“The purpose of this contract is to (1) update and expand the current CKD cost effectiveness model using the latest published data; (2) validate the updated CKD cost effectiveness model with data from independent clinical trials and observational data, and (3) deliver a completed version of the model software, a technical report and user manual. RTI has previous experience insight and knowledge of this complex microsimulation model and has access to the technical requirements needed to provide this service at the current budgeted amount.”
