Government Matters: Lessons from pandemic fuel infrastructure improvement at VA Office of Information and Technology

“The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Office of Information and Technology is innovating its tech tools to support the overall mission of the VA. IT investment management can benefit both veterans and the department. Leading the charge is Paul Brubaker, acting principal deputy assistant secretary at the VA Office of Information and Technology.

  • Brubaker said his office has been working to address infrastructure readiness issues highlighted by the pandemic, which greatly stressed the system, and identifying needed investments.
  • He said the team is developing roadmaps to help systematically guide IT investments that have measurable improvements in outcomes.
